What the heck does Deus Ex Somnia mean?
Deus Ex Somnia is latin, it can be translated as "Ghost from the Dream." It's kind of a play on Deus Ex Machina and Ghost in the Shell.
Why doesn't your comic make sense?
The comic does make a certain kind of sense. It's mainly referential humor so if something looks really wierd chances are you just missed the reference. Which is certainly understandable since many of my references are terribly obscure. Sorry. I've kind of gotten away from that lately though, so hopefully you should get the jokes. After a little while I can start the real fun: being self-referential.
Could you give me a brief rundown of the story so far?
Sure why not. Those early comics are kind of hard for me to read now too. Our story takes place completely in the character's dreams. So far: Our main protagonist, Deese, gets chased off a cliff by an unknown assailant but halfway to the sharp, pointy rocks below realises this is all a dream. He wanders out of his own dream into a neighboring one where he meets the heroine Angel. Together they explore a castle and are attacked by a couple evil henchmen. They are rescued by "The smart one," Mors. All three of them manage to defeat the henchmen and their boss and take control of an anchor, which allows them to return to this dream even after they wake up, and an ancient computer which they name Melchior. Deese is made captain and they convert the bad guy's base into a starship christened the Deus Ex Somnia. Together with their crew, rescued from the school the bad guy was keeping them in, they roam around the dreamverse seeking to quell nightmares and defeat the bad guy's remaining henchmen. Didn't you used to have anotations?
Yes I did, but I stopped doing them and have since removed the page. They weren't really helpful at all. I may one day go back and add optional comments to the comics, but for now I think we're better off without them. If you didn't get the joke, chances are good the anotations aren't going to help at all. If you have a question though, you can post it on the forum or email me about it and I'll be happy to answer your question or clue you in on what you missed.
